How big is a 10x15 storage unit?
Our 10x15 storage units measure approximately 10 feet wide and 15 feet long, giving you about 150 square feet of total storage space. The ceiling height of our 10x15 storage units can vary because of the unique dimensions of each self storage building. Most units have 8-foot+ ceilings, giving you up to 1,200 cubic feet of storage space for your items. If you need a unit with taller ceilings please reach out to us.
What does a 10x15 storage unit look like?
10x15 self storage units are comparable in size to a spare bedroom or two-thirds of a standard single-car garage.
What size moving truck is needed for a 10x15 storage unit?
Moving trucks come in a variety of sizes, from 10-foot moving trucks to extra large 26-foot trucks. Generally, if you’re moving two to three bedrooms, a 20-foot moving truck will provide sufficient capacity. For four rooms or more, you might consider a larger, 26-foot moving truck. Depending on distance it might be easier to make several trips in a smaller truck.
The type of items you’re storing will affect the moving truck size that might be appropriate. If you’re renting a 10x15 self storage unit to store business supplies, a smaller moving truck might be sufficient versus if you were renting that unit to store many large pieces of furniture.
Remember, with 6am to 9pm gate access at the Olympic Self Storage facility, you can come and go as you need. You are able to take multiple trips with a smaller truck and move as many loads as you need.
Are your 10x15 storage units climate controlled?
Olympic Self Storage does not currently have any climate control or heated storage units.
How much can you fit in a 10x15 storage unit?
You can typically fit up to four rooms worth of your belongings in our 10x15 self storage units. These are a great solution for storing larger items such as living room furniture or large appliances. A 10x15 unit works well for storing the contents of most medium-size homes or full apartments, including items such as several big-screen TVs, tables, sofas and quite a few medium or large-size boxes.
Can I fit a car in a 10x15 storage unit?
Just like our other self storage units, cars and trucks come in a wide variety of sizes. To determine what unit size to rent for your vehicle, we always recommend measuring the precise dimensions of your car. Very small vehicles can likely fit in our 10x15 storage units. Larger cars can fit more comfortably in our 10x20 storage units or larger. For vehicle storage of trucks or SUVs you would want to look at a 10x25 or even a 10x30 storage unit.
Are 10x15 units a good size for a two-bedroom house?
Our large 10x15 storage units are great for storing your furniture and other items from a two-bedroom house or apartment. This includes larger things such as appliances plus boxes, furniture and miscellaneous items.
What’s the best way to pack a 10x15 storage unit?
Packing smartly can help you maximize the use of your 10x15 self storage unit. First ensure items that need it are clean before preparing them for storage. Wipe down your fridge and furniture to clear off any grime, dirt or dust. Before your move, try to box everything, label boxes and carefully choose the best size box for what you will pack inside.
When you’re ready to begin packing your items to move into your 10x15 storage unit, these tips may be helpful:
Plastic bags are convenient, but don’t provide great protection for your things. We recommend boxes or totes instead. After packing each box, seal it with packing tape to keep dust out.
It is helpful to keep an inventory of boxes showing the contents so you can easily find what you are looking for.
When possible, disassemble furniture to conserve packing space and make moving and storage easier. If couches or sofas have removable legs, remove them and store them in a separate box. The gaps in between furniture can provide hidden packing space, also. You might be able to fit boxes in your dresser or books in your refrigerator!
Mirrors, frames and any fragile items with glass should be stored standing up, not laying down.
If you are storing tools, equipment or other outdoor gear like lawn mowers or generators, make sure to do so safely. Empty gas powered tools of fuel and ensure they are covered to keep from rusting.
